Last night I saw a Phoenix
Was it just a dream?
Because that’s how it seemed
And this burning bird
She couldn’t fly
She had broke her wing
And she was crying
Over the barren streets of America
Over the barren streets of America
She sat upon a tree
Her eyes were closed the branch it burned beneath her feet
But she had lost her glow
Now she was all alone
I watched
The world below
A bed of browning leaves and piles of sticks and stones
Obscured with cannon smoke
Yeah we had lost all hope
In the abandoned streets of America
In the abandoned streets of America
In a serene submission her body went limp
And as gravity took hold she crumbled into the wind
To the divided streets of America
To the divided streets of America
And from the overpass
I watched her embers meet
The carpet of lifeless grass
And branches on the streets
This barren wasteland became an ocean of fire
And from the molten mess
I see a head emerge
I see it shake its wings
A little baby bird
Gives a triumphant cry as it takes flight
We are the Phoenix
They broke our wings and we cannot fly away
We are the Phoenix
So I’ll close my eyes and I’ll fall into the flames
We are the Phoenix
And we’re coming back to life
We are the phoenix
And everything is out of my control
We are the Phoenix
so tonight I’m letting gravity take hold
We are the Phoenix
And we’re coming back to life
We are the phoenix
I’ll drown myself in the ashes down below
We are the phoenix
I’ll expire and then I’ll emerge from the glow
We are the phoenix
And we’re coming back to life
We are the phoenix
In this hellscape that I used to call my home
We are the phoenix
Filled with everything that I have ever known
We are the phoenix
And we’re coming back to life…
